MoneychangersTHE names of coins vary by region throughout Faerun. The following coins are used in Sarbreenar.
Copper pieces – Thumbs’
Silver pieces – ‘Silver ‘Hawks’
Electrum pieces - ‘Blue Eyes’
Gold pieces – Golden ‘Lions’
Platinum pieces – Tricrowns

As well as the standard coins, there are a number of currencies, which are non-standard:

Bela

This is paper money, usually used by the barbarian tribes to the east and in Kara-Tur. It is worthless in the western Realms (accept it at your own risk).

Blood Notes

These are scrolls, letters or other forms of IOUs and promissory notes from the listed person to the bearer. Blood notes can be made by individuals, adventuring companies or countries and cities to cover debts. Debtors are legally bound to settle them when presented. Blood notes from dead individuals are not binding.

Merchant’s Trade Bars

These thin silver bars are worth 50 gp each. The bar is marked at one end with its value and the symbol of the trading institution at the other. Broken trade bars are valueless, though most merchants will continue to honour trade bars of defunct institutions. Trade bars of the Iron Throne trading group are not honoured by other traders.

Sembian Trade Bars

These ingot-shaped bars of silver dotted with copper and marked with the symbol of Sembia are backed by the Merchant Kingdom. The value of these bars ranges from 5 gp to 50 gp.

Purchasing equipment

Aurora's SigilNormal equipment may be purchased in Sarbreenar using the prices in the PHB.

Any more esoteric equipment purchased from ‘Aurora’s Catalogue’ comes from Procampur and transported to Sarbreenar by a certain enterprising merchant who works for Aurora. The goods are then retailed through the House of Beluar. Prices of goods purchased from the catalogue are therefore 10% more expensive.
